BIOGRAPHY

Åshild Wangensteen Bjørvik is a Norwegian architect, partner and CEO of Mad Arkitekter, based in Oslo. Mad is an inter-disciplinary architectural office, counting over 100 employees in four different locations. The office has an extensive body of completed works, and over the last years their approach to sustainable architecture has been at the forefront, with projects such as KA13, a re-use project nominated for the EU Mies award 2022, and the Woho tower, a timber high rise in Kreuzberg, Berlin. Åshild has valuable experience from several large-scale urban projects, and she has also lectured at the Oslo School of Architecture. Her main goal as a CEO is to build high performance teams, and to create an innovative and fun place to work. At SAEE she will present project examples from Mad Arkitekter’s design practice, with a focus on how sustainable architecture can arise through a variety of design strategies and methods, aiming to inspire a more sustainable future within the building industry.
