ANDRIJA RUSAN

Andrija Rusan was born in Zagreb in 1957. He graduated from the Faculty of Architecture in Zagreb in 1980, where he worked until 1984. Since 1986, he has been working as an independent architect and runs his own studio, Rusan’s office. He participated in the IBA (Internationale Bauausstellung) in 1987 in Berlin as the author of the exhibition Zagreb, ah Zagreb. He is the author of the exhibition of architectural sketches, Outline of Ideas. He is one of the authors of the exhibition Continuity of Modernity – Fragments of Croatian Architecture from Modernism to 2010. Together with Vedran Mimica and Maroj Mrduljaš, he is the author of the book Contemporary Croatian Architecture – Testing Reality. In the 1980s and 1990s, he was the editor of the Association of Croatian Architects’ magazines Man and Space and Architecture. Since 1998, he has been the publisher and editor of Oris magazine. Oris has been awarded the Neven Šegvić Award of the Association of Croatian Architects twice. Andrija Rusan won the Drago Galić Award of the Association of Croatian Architects for the best residential architecture in 1997, and the Dedalo Minosse Award for the Lumenart house in Pula in 2007. In 2006, he was appointed the commissioner of the Croatian performance at the 10th International Architecture Exhibition in Venice. Apart from publishing and exhibiting activities, he designs and executes interiors, family houses and villas, as well as office buildings and public facilities. His works were included in the Phaidon Atlas of 21st World Architecture and Atlas Global Architecture circa 2000 (Fundación BBVA). His architectural works have been published in a number of books and magazines both in Croatia and in the world. He also held a series of lectures about his works and the activities of the Oris House of Architecture association.
